This course will provide an overview of how geocoding works, outline pre- and post-geocoding processes, and detail recent changes with the NAACCR Geocoding. Special attention will be made to issues with geocoding quality and new features of the NAACCR Geocoder: MicroMatch Status, Penalty Score, Minimum Match Score, Exhaustive Search Function, and Interactive Geocoding Interface.  Participants may upload registry data to the NAACCR geocoder prior to the course or use a non-confidential data set.

Course Objectives

  1. Instruct registries about sources and potential solutions to geocoding errors.
  2. Provide registries with tools to improve their geocoding.
  3. Instruct registries on how to use the new NAACCR Geocoding features

Requirements

Class participants should bring their own laptop computer.

Content

Geocoding overview, details of improvements of NAACCR Geocoder, and hands-on experience with new NAACCR Geocoder Tools
